Patterns

Create a board while adding a link

Keep organization inside the link task without pretending two writes are atomic.

On this page

Task sequence

  • Choose Create new board in the link editor.
  • Enter the new board name.
  • Retain URL, label and optional icon.
  • Create board first, then link, then select the new collection.

Data and persistence

The source performs sequential board POST and link POST. If link creation fails after board creation, the board already exists and remains in local state. There is no transaction spanning the two endpoints.

Failure and recovery

Board-name validation appears next to the inline field. Retry requires awareness that a board may already have been created; a compensating rollback is not implemented.

Acceptance criteria

  • New-board choice focuses the board name.
  • Explain partial-save behavior to maintainers.
  • Do not claim atomicity or hidden rollback.
