Hey, I’m Thomas.
Designer, engineer, and founder based in Boise, Idaho. I’ve spent the last two decades at the intersection of design and code, building things I believe in and helping others do the same.
If you’re trying to build something meaningful on the web, a product, a content business, a brand that actually looks like you, this site exists to help you do it.
I’ve spent nearly two decades in the trenches of design and development, and my goal is to save you the years of trial and error it took me to figure out what works. I started as a senior designer at a publishing house doing book covers and brand work, then taught myself to code because I kept having ideas that needed to exist as real software. That combination, fluency in both design and engineering, is what shapes every tool, article, and project I share here.
Along the way, I’ve run a design studio, built products for clients, and launched software businesses of my own. What I share here comes from that work: lessons learned by making things, putting them into the world, and improving them.
These days I build through Makeable, a studio focused on modern web development and digital product design. Between client projects, I publish free tools and write about design, content, and building a sustainable creative business. Whether you want to work together or learn on your own schedule, I’m glad you’re here.
Away from
the keyboard.
I also practice traditional archery. Give me a bow, a target, and some open country, and I’m there. My bow is a 42 lb Végh Buryat, which I shoot with a thumb release and a shooting glove. Sometimes I bring a camera along to share a little of the experience. So if an archery video turns up alongside the software and design work, now you know why.
