Newsletter privacy

Your email address, subscription status and selected interests are used to send the newsletters you requested. You can unsubscribe using the link in any email.

New newsletter signups and delivery are currently handled by Kit. Use the subscription controls in your Kit emails. The details below also describe data retained by the site’s custom email app, whose newsletter delivery is currently paused.

Opens and clicks

The site’s email app uses a small image and linked destinations to estimate newsletter readership. Those events are associated with your subscription through a random delivery identifier. They are not anonymous. Image blocking, privacy proxies and automated link scans make these estimates imperfect.

The app stores first engagement timestamps, coarse automated-request or proxy classifications, and a bounded history of click timestamps with hashed link identifiers. It does not save IP addresses, full browser descriptions or full clicked URLs in its engagement database. It does not use tracking cookies, fingerprinting, location lookups or third-party IP lookups.

Your choices

Open the Preferences link in an email sent by this app to stop it recording future engagement. You can continue receiving emails and selecting your interests. Previously recorded engagement remains in the email’s statistics; unsubscribing also stops new engagement being recorded by the app.

Service providers

Resend delivers the app’s emails, Vercel hosts the site, and Neon stores its subscription and reporting data. These services can process request and delivery metadata in their own infrastructure and logs. Resend’s domain-level tracking is separate from the app’s recording preference; provider tracking must be disabled on the sending domain for a complete tracking opt-out.

Subscriptions and newsletters managed in Kit use Kit’s subscription controls and tracking. The app’s preferences do not change those subscriptions.
