The rationale
Make publishing easier. Stay responsible for what ships.
I founded the business in 2015 and led it until its sale in 2022. Notable Themes and NotablePress were parts of the same work: helping authors, speakers, and other creators build a home for their content and their business. Over that time, I designed and built a portfolio of 12 WordPress themes and seven plugins while owning product direction, branding, marketing, development, and support.
The important design decision was to reduce the work between installing a theme and having a useful website. For the flagship product, I chose a form-driven setup rather than asking every creator to become a page designer. A guided path through identity, visual style, links, and integrations gave people a way to launch a complete site in minutes, then refine it as their needs changed.
The wider theme portfolio addressed different jobs. A writer’s reading experience, a speaker’s professional presence, a book launch, and a webinar each call for different priorities. Products such as Tribe, Podium, Authority, Bookstand, and Broadcast made those differences explicit. The Signature Series partnerships brought creators and their audiences into the business; three collaborations collectively generated thousands of sales.
NotablePress brought the publishing side together. Articles, video, and podcast content could live alongside audience-building and membership features, with add-ons for more focused tasks. The aim was a coherent creator platform that people could own and customize on WordPress. The brand carried that same idea across product pages, mobile experiences, training, and the theme catalog.
Running the business meant staying responsible after a design shipped. I led development and customer support, including managing two support representatives. Setup, documentation, updates, and the questions customers brought back were part of the product experience. The work served tens of thousands of users over nearly seven years before I sold the business.
This entry includes both NotablePress and Notable Themes. The screenshots show original themes and plugins running locally with fictional creator content, alongside current captures of the two public marketing sites. The selection focuses on distinct workflows: publishing, guided setup, product installation, book promotion, workshops, lessons, and audience tools. It represents a selection of the wider portfolio; the sample creators and their content are demonstration material.
